Wenatchee, otherwise known as the Apple Capital of the World, is the largest city of Chelan County. Wenatchee sits in front of a beautiful backdrop consisting of the foothills of the Cascade Range with both the Columbia and Wenatchee rivers winding through the city. On a weekend night the whole town fills the Town Toyota Center to watch and support the Wenatchee Wild Jr. league hockey team. The town also boasts their very own professional baseball team- the Wenatchee Applesox, and professional soccer team- the Wenatchee Fire FC. This sunny (despite the rest of Washington) valley has many recreational activities. Many people waterski, kayak and boat along the Columbia River, or go tubing down the Wenatchee River. The Apple Capitol Recreational Loop is the ideal place to bike, walk, or jog along its 10-mile course that parallels the Columbia River on both sides. In the winter, people use it as a cross-country course! Since Wenatchee is located at the base of foothills, hiking the scenic foothills is also a common activity to do. Visiting the Wenatchee National Forest is also a must, in order to catch some of the best views in the state. A few other fun activities to do in Wenatchee are going to the Pybus Public Market- a waterfront market with great food, shops and music, or visiting both the Swakane Winery and the Columbia Valley Brewery. Shopping in Wenatchee is abundant and dispersed making stores convenient to get to from anywhere you live. The best places to shop are the Valley North Shopping Center and the Wenatchee Valley Mall. Wenatchee public schools are apart of the Wenatchee School District #246, and are apart of a highly accomplished school district. Wenatchee keeps a close community, has a gorgeous location, and is full of entertainment!
